Pheromone lures and natural enemies are two important biological control methods in thrips management. Pheromone lures in conjunction with natural enemies are becoming promising control strategies for further thrips management. However, limited knowledge is known about the effect of thrips pheromone on the interactions between thrips and natural enemies. Using Frankliniella occidentalis, its aggregation pheromone and predator Orius similis as model, this proposal is aimed to investigate the effect of thrips aggregation pheromone on habitat location, prey search and predatory behavior of O. similis. Meanwhile, antipredator behavior and pheromone release change of F. occidentalis will be investigated as well as the corresponding responses of O. similis. Furthermore, to understand the underlying mechanism, olfactory relative proteins from F. occidentalis and O. similis will be identified and fluorescence-based ligand binding assay will be conducted. The results of this proposal will provide new supports for understanding the chemical communication between thrips and their predators and the coevolution of thrips and natural enemies. In addition, the results will also provide guidance for the application of aggregation pheromone and natural enemies in thrips management.
信息素引诱剂和天敌是防控西花蓟马的两种重要的生物防治措施,联合引诱剂和天敌提高防控蓟马的效果成为蓟马综合治理的新方向,然而,信息素对蓟马-天敌互作的影响和机制尚未明确。本项目拟以西花蓟马及其聚集信息素、捕食性天敌南方小花蝽为研究对象,测定西花蓟马聚集信息素组分对南方小花蝽生境定位、猎物搜寻、捕食行为的影响;同时,观察西花蓟马应对天敌捕食的行为反应、聚集信息素释放变化及其引起的天敌行为反应。最后,通过比较南方小花蝽和西花蓟马嗅觉相关蛋白及其与聚集信息素组分的结合能力,阐述聚集信息素影响蓟马-天敌互作的嗅觉感受机制。研究预期结果将为了解蓟马-天敌间的信息交流方式及协调进化机制提供依据,同时为综合应用聚集信息素和天敌这两种重要的生物防治措施提供指导。
信息素引诱剂和天敌是防控西花蓟马的两种重要的生物防治措施,联合引诱剂和天敌提高防控蓟马的效果成为蓟马综合治理的新方向。本项目以西花蓟马及其聚集信息素、捕食性天敌南方小花蝽为研究对象,明确了南方小花蝽对西花蓟马聚集信息素具有电生理和行为趋向反应,有助于南方小花蝽对蓟马的定位;鉴定了南方小花蝽和西花蓟马的气味结合蛋白OBP基因,筛选出南方小花蝽和西花蓟马间保守性高的9个OBP基因,通过分子对接和荧光竞争结合试验验证了与西花蓟马嗅觉感受蛋白保守性最高、与西花蓟马聚集信息素组分结合能最低的OstrOBP8与蓟马聚集信息素组分的结合能力,明确气味结合蛋白介导的聚集信息素影响西花蓟马-南方小花蝽互作的嗅觉感受机制,研究结果为了解蓟马-天敌间的信息交流方式及协调进化机制提供依据,同时为综合应用聚集信息素和天敌这两种重要的生物防治措施提供指导。
