As a common landscape in mountainous areas on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, “alpine grassline” is a significant components of mountain altitudinal belts spectra, and is one of the most sensitive zones react to global climate changes. However, the ecological importance of “alpine grassline ecotone” in alpine ecosystems has rarely been addressed, as well as the formation and maintenance mechanisms of alpine grassline and its response to global change...Here, we propose to study the alpine grassline ecotone with two altitudinal gradients at two high altitude localities on the southern slope of Lenglongling range, east Qilian Mountains, northeastern Tibetan Plateau. The general aims of this study are: 1) to summarize the floristic characteristics, community dynamics, and spatial distribution patterns of plants on southern slope of Lenglongling range by vegetation inventory across the study area; 2) to evaluate the processes and dynamics of the community assembly on the habitat gradients of plants in alpine grassline ecozone and to understand the formation and maintenance mechanisms of alpine grassline according to functional traits and the related environmental and climatic data; and 3) to predict the effects of nutrient addition (nitrogen will be added at the rate of 100 kg N ha-1yr-1 and phosphorus at the rate of 50 kg P ha-1yr-1, alone and in combination) and warming (using OTC) on biodiversity, functional trait, community structure and above/below-ground productivity, and try to explore the potential trends and mechanisms of alpine grassline ecotone changes in response to global climate change...This study could provide the basic data and theoretical references for future study in this area, and could provide scientific basis for the recovery and management of alpine meadow ecosystem and regional sustainable development.
“高山草线”是青藏高原常见的植被景观和重要山地垂直带谱界线,对“高山草线过渡带”特殊生态系统的研究有助于理解典型高山草线的形成、维持和变化机制,但目前的研究还很缺乏。..本项目拟在祁连山东段冷龙岭南坡“高山草线过渡带”这一特殊生态交错带开展研究。通过区域性植物区系的调查,构建山地植被垂直带谱,总结其群落特征,并结合环境和气候因子,揭示该区域山地生物多样性的空间分布格局及其成因。在高山草线过渡带,设置2个海拔梯度的养分添加与OTC模拟增温实验样地,基于海拔梯度上的样带调查和控制实验样方水平上的功能性状数据及谱系发育数据,探讨高山草线形成和维持的生态学机制,并通过对实验处理下物种多样性、功能性状、群落结构和生产力等的研究,预测和阐明高山草线在全球变化背景下可能的变化及变化机制。..项目的顺利实施可以为脆弱高山带高寒生态系统的研究提供数据支持,为区域生态安全和可持续发展提供管理建议和科学依据。
