半参数可变系数工具变量模型：估计、检验与应用

We propose a new class of semiparametric varying-coefficient instrumental variables models. Compared to traditional instrumental models, our new model allows some coefficients, including endogenous variables, to be an unknown function of some economic variables, in which the choice of economic variables depends on economic theory or stylized facts, while other coefficients remain constant. In this proposal, we develop new estimators for both varying and constant coefficients, discuss the efficiency issue of estimating constant coefficients, and establish new statistics for testing the varying coefficients and the exogeneity of instrumental variables. All asymptotic properties of these estimators and test statistics are derived and the finite sample performances are examined as well. Moreover, we also apply the new semiparametric varying-coefficient instrumental variables model to estimate (1) the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth where the coefficient of FDI is an unknown function depending on initial conditions, human capital accumulation and local financial market conditions; (2) the effect of natural resource abundance on economic development where the coefficient of resource abundance depends on the quality of institutions in each country or region.

本课题提出一组新的半参数可变系数工具变量模型。和传统的线性工具变量模型相比，我们的模型允许一部分变量（包括内生变量）的系数是其它一些经济变量的未知函数（称之为可变系数），而另一部分变量则是固定系数。可变系数函数中经济变量的选择则由已知的经济理论或经济特征事实所决定。本课题的主要研究任务是建立半参数可变系数工具变量模型的方法体系，包括模型估计、模型设定检验、可变系数检验、固定系数有效估计和工具变量外生性检验等，并推导相应的大样本统计性质，考察小样本的表现绩效。此外，本课题将半参数可变系数工具变量模型运用到两个实证研究领域：（1）估计外商直接投资（FDI）对经济增长的影响，其中FDI对经济增长的影响效应被设定为该国或该地区的初始条件、人力资本积累和当地金融市场条件的一个可变系数；（2）估计资源禀赋对经济发展的影响，其中资源禀赋对经济发展的影响系数取决于一个国家或中国内部各地区的制度水平。

本项目的主要研究内容在于提出了一个新的半参数可变系数工具变量模型，在存在内生性问题的框架下，从半参数建模、模型估计、模型检验和工具变量检验等各方面建立一个完整的理论体系，并讨论其在管理科学等领域中的应用。从计量经济学的理论发展来看，本项目将可变系数模型和半参数工具变量模型相结合，避免了“维度祸根”问题和ill-posed可逆性问题，同时处理了模型中的内生性问题，并提出了相应的检验方法。本项目的研究成果有助于发展和丰富已有的工具变量模型，拓宽其应用范围。在项目执行期间，项目负责人共发表论文9篇，其中SSCI或SCI论文7篇，包括Journal of Econometrics和Econometric Theory各1篇。项目研究主体部分在Journal of Business & Economic Statistics二审过程中。
