天元数学交流项目——MAGMA在群论与群作用中的应用研讨会

Computers are frequently used in the research of mathematics, such as the computer algebra software Magma is used a lot in the research of pure math, especially in groups and graphs. Magma is a large, well-supported software package designed for computations in algebra, number theory, algebraic geometry and algebraic combinatorics. It provides a mathematically rigorous environment for defining and working with structures such as groups, rings, fields, modules, algebras, schemes, curves, graphs, designs, codes and many others. Magma also supports a number of databases designed to aid computational research in those areas of mathematics which are algebraic in nature. In 1984, the first Magma workshop was held in Sydney. The latest one is in 2012. In this project, we will organize a new Magma workshop focus on the topics of group theory and group actions. Especially, we will focus on the following three topics: (1) computational group theory;(2) Magma and p-group;(3) Magma and discrete symmetric objects. The organizer will invite 5-6 experts on group and group actions to give lectures on each topic.

计算机应用到四色定理的证明至今，各计算机软件也被广泛的应用到数学研究的各个方向中去。如：计算代数软件Magma就被越来越多的数学家广泛地应用到基础数学的研究中。Magma是一个由悉尼大学团队开发的大型的，且具有丰富软件包的计算软件。其设计用于代数、数论、代数几何和代数组合学的计算。它可以定义和处理诸如组、环、字段、模块、代数、方案、曲线、图形、设计、代码和许多其他结构，同时提供了严格的数学环境。自1984年第一届Magma研讨会至今已召开了25次研讨会，但最近一次为2012年召开。本项目将在悉尼大学Magma团队的软件授权下召开Magma在群论与群作用方面的研讨会。会议将重点在以下3个方面展开：（1）计算群论；（2）Magma与p-群；（3）Magma与离散对称结构。届时，项目组将邀请国际知名专家5-6名分别讲授相关专题内容。
