The project aims at undertaking scientific research and cultivating talents in mathematics and its applications. Focusing on topics at the frontier of mathematics, it intends to build a communication platform for cooperation and research. The objective of the project is to establish Tianyuan Mathematical Center in Southeast China as a platform for collaboration and research, to cultivate talents and to produce original achievements in mathematics. It will carry out a variety of academic activities, concentrating on topics such as differential geometry, complex geometry and geometric analysis; algebra, algebraic geometry, number theory and representation theory; partial differential equation and its numerical methods; discrete mathematics and optimization. It is determined to improve the overall research level of mathematics in relevant fields..Xiamen, located in the southeast of China, is a strategic city of the “One Belt One Road” initiative, and is at the frontier of communication with Taiwan in scientific research and education. It is of great significance to establish Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center at Xiamen University as it not only helps implement the national strategy but also promotes research cooperation and talent cultivation in Southeast China and Southeast Asia at large. In a few years, it will become an important cooperation platform based in Southeast China, with national, regional and even global influence. As a research and education hub, it will integrate scientific research and talent cultivation, becoming highly competitive in the country and hugely influential in the world.
本项目将以数学及其应用的研究与人才培养为目标,聚焦数学科学前沿动态,构建交流平台、促进合作与研究。项目主要内容和目标,一是创建国家天元数学东南中心,打造一流数学研究和交流平台;二是依托该中心培养一流数学人才、取得一流科研成果。 本项目将重点关注如下四个领域:1、微分几何、复几何与几何分析,2、代数、代数几何、数论与表示论,3、偏微分方程理论与数值方法,4、离散数学与优化。开展系列主题学术活动,推动数学学科的创新与发展。.厦门地处东南沿海,是“一带一路”战略支点城市和对台科技教育交流前沿,在厦门大学成立国家天元数学东南中心对于服务国家战略,促进东南各省乃至东南亚地区数学研究交流合作、数学人才的培养具有重要意义。经过若干年的努力,打造成为立足东南、服务全国、辐射东南亚、面向全球的交流合作平台,建设成为国内一流、在国际上有重要影响,集科学研究、人才培养于一体的交流合作及科学研究平台。
