Systems Engineering - Theory & Practice seeks to develop the fields of the systems engineering and management science, and more generally to flourish the systems science and to extend the knowledge, so as to promote the level of management technologies, and make contributions to social and economic development. . The quality of papers published in Systems Engineering - Theory & Practice has been improved greatly, and the journal''s effect is becoming more and more extensive and thus it attracts more and more readers. Now the journal has become one of the most popular journals in the fields of systems engineering and management science, and so on. The citation of the journal has been increasing year by year, and the total score comes out top 1 in the field of systems engineering in 2011. The journal has been nominated as the Top 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China for 7 times and been included by EI Compendex. Moreover, the journal is the only exclusive international EI cited journal in the field of management all over the country. The submission of papers related to the management takes some 65% of the total of the journal, and thus it has been nominated as one of the important management journals by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The journal has been regarded as one of the key Chinese journals, and is included in EI, CSSCI, Chinese Science Abstracts, Chinese Academic Journal (CD), etc..　　Systems Engineering - Theory & Practice has been accepted as a major key journal by many universities and academic institutes such as Graduate School of CAS, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University and the like. The journal was honorably categorized as the elite journal forever by China Association for Science and Technology and Instititue of Scientific and Technical information of China, which ensure the authors and readers the journal is being developed better and better.

《系统工程理论与实践》自创刊以来，办刊质量和国内影响力不断提高，得到国内外同行的广泛认可，被许多所大学和科研机构认定为核心期刊，被基金委管理学部认定为管理科学A级重要学术期刊，7次荣获中国科技信息研究所评选的“百种中国杰出学术期刊”称号，一直入选中国科协和信息所评选的“中国精品科技期刊”，以及武汉大学中国科学评价研究中心评选的“中国权威学术期刊”，入选CSSCI期刊。本刊自1994年起被EI Page One数据库收录，2009年进入EI Compendex核心数据库，也是中国管理科学界唯一被EI检索的中文期刊。本刊发表的7篇论文荣获“中国科协期刊优秀学术论文奖”，2篇论文荣获“2007年度中国百篇最具影响国内学术论文奖”。“专项基金项目”为进一步提高我刊核心竞争力提供了重要契机，希望通过一系列举措的实施，将本刊打造成国内国际知名科技期刊，使本刊成为向国内外展示我国管理科学创新成果的平台。

项目的实施在学术影响力、期刊编校质量、宣传力度、文献计量等几个方面顺利完成了预期目标。本项目总结依赖于项目前期目标，有针对地介绍了项目取得的成绩，并以数据说明项目实施前后的差异。最后，从组稿、审稿专家队伍建设、编委队伍建设、加强编辑学习和加大期刊宣传力度五个方面明确了项目后期的发展方向，进而给编辑部和期刊的继续发展提高奠定了基础。
