Thermally stimulated current (TSC) technique is a effective method for studing the motion of molecules, dipoles and charge carriers, the morphology and aging behavior in polymers.The free volume of polymer is not only dependent on temperature, but also on pressure .If we control the pressure,then can enlarge the TSC's action, in characterizing the free volume of polymers, at the same time, distinguish easily the depolarization between the dipole and space charge. The set-up for electrical aging of polymer, and a sample cell at high pressure ranging between 0-300Mpa with multi-function of measuring either TSC, or piezo-stimulated current(PSC) was first in home build; a set of soft ware war developed for analyzing the complicated TSC or TSL spectra; the estimation of trap parameters and dynamic order of several typical insulating materials, such as low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) , polyimide (PI) and silicone rubber (SR) were completed; the reasonable explanations for their corresponding spectral characteristics were put forward based on polymeric structures; the type of dipole ,the mechanism of forming the carrier traps and recombination centers , and their molecular features were explored; the linear relationship between the concentration of trap and recombination center in LDPE aging time was found, and the trap depth ( activition energy) also increases steadily during aging; the spectral characteristic with decimal fraction of dynamic order of TSC spectra at high temperature region (300-400K) in PET war first observed.
