3,3'-Bisdipyrromethenes with different substitutes and 2,3'-bisdipyrromethene with unsubstitute at pyrrole rings were synthezised. The self-assemblies of those with Zinc(II) and Cobalt(II) gave double stranded halicates, and the cavity of the complex of 2,3'-bisdipyrromethene showed a novel rectangle. Series of Schiff bases of aromatic and aliphatic diamines with pyrrolyl aldehyde were synthesized, and the complexes of Schiff bases with metal ions gave varies of spatial structures such as double stranded helicates, square and triangle, which were confirmed by X-ray analysis. Some of them show optical non-linearity, or strong fluorescence, which may be developed for new optical-electronic of ionic recognition materials.
