By means of the regular linear laser nitriding, high temperature stable Fe-N compounds, which formed some new grain boundaries optimizing refining the main domain distribution, were prepared on the grain oriented silicon steel sheets. Then the aim in reducing the core loss of grain oriented silicon steel and improving its aging property was realized. The laser nitriding method of gain oriented silicon steel at an atmosphere ambience and its physical mechanism were investigated, a mathematical model of the laser nitriding process and a modification Fick equation considered the active factor of N2 beam were established. Theoretical estimation by using the model and experiment results was well coincident. Based on the experiment results, high temperature stability of Fe-N compounds formed by the laser nitriding and their phase transformation process were analyzed, the reason of realizing refining domain width was pointed, and a total approach of laser nitriding treating grain oriented silicon steel was presented, which included measurement and statistics of sample property, prediction of theoretical limit of improving aim, and determination of technique parameters. The research results have shown that the aging property of the laser nitriding treating grain oriented silicon steel can obtain obvious improving and the work temperature can reach 800℃ or higher temperature, comparing with the laser scribing grain oriented silicon steel.
