It is an important approach to identify the law of climate in the past and to assess the Global Warming that using proxy to reconstructing paleoclimate. Tree rings as an important proxy had made a great contribution for the climatological studies. Due to its long longevity, cypress played an essential role in the millennium-long dendroclimatological researches on the Tibetan Plateau, which showed a tremendous value of cypress for climatic study. There are a variety of cypress in Northwestern Yunnan. However, its dendroclimatological value has not yet been developed. Thus, we apply for the project to open the door for dendroclimatological studies on cypress in this region, which is to answer the question: What about the dendroclimatological potential of cypress in Northwestern Yunnan. The samples will be collected from 3-6 sites on different altitudes. The potential will be assessed from 3 aspects: 1) the cypress potential of crossdating 2) the ability of cypress chronologies to keep common signals 3) the growth-climate response in different sites/altitudes/spices. The study will provide a fundamental bridge to further long paleoclimatic reconstructions in this area in the future.
利用代用资料重建过去气候变化是我们认清历史气候变化规律、正确评估目前全球气候变暖的重要途径。树轮是重要的气候学研究代用资料,在过去的气候变化历史研究中发挥了重要作用。柏树作为长寿命树种对青藏高原千年树轮气候学研究做出了突出贡献,显示出巨大的研究价值。滇西北地区分布有多种柏树,但是其树轮气候学价值一直未得到发掘。因此本项目旨在开辟对滇西北柏树的树轮气候学研究工作,对“滇西北柏树的树轮气候学研究潜力”这一科学问题进行初步探究。据此计划在滇西北地区从不同地点、不同海拔采集3-6个点的柏树样本,通过研究1)不同柏树的交叉定年潜力,2)柏树树轮年表对公共信号的保留能力,以及3)不同地点/海拔/树种的柏树其生长-气候的响应关系特征等三个方面的内容来评估滇西北柏树的树轮气候学研究潜力,为进一步利用柏树树轮研究价值,开展时间更长、内容更丰富的树轮气候学研究打下良好的基础。
