In this project, we studied optical properties and fabrication methods of reflection and dielectric films of hollow fibers. We obtained large-diameter "pyrex-silver-polystyrene" hollow waveguides with lengths over 1m and diameters from 1mm to 25mm. We measured optical transmission properties of these waveguides at the visible, near-infrared and CO2 laser wavelengths. We obtained optical losses of <0.2dB/m for narrow-band and <0.6dB/m for broad-band transmission with damage thresholds higher than 500W/cm2. These results may find applications in short-distance solar energy transmission. In addition, we have developed optically pumped fiber-optic photo-thermal converters, zirconia waveguides for high-temperature sensing and energy delivery, and microstructures for optical wave guiding, which may be potentially useful in such fields as aerospace, bio-medicine and microphotonics.
研究大直径空心光纤在太阳辐射波段内的传输特性,研究低损耗空心光纤反射膜及电介质膜的制作工艺和光学特性。研制高稳定低损耗的太阳能传输用大直径空心光纤,并对太阳辐射能进行全波段直接传输,这对更加合理和高效地利用太阳能、提高太阳能的利用效率具有重大的现实意义,特别是在建筑物的内部采光采热方面具有极大的应用前景。
