22 (6 kinds) new calixarene or thiacalixarene derivatives were synthesized and characterized.Their supramolecular interaction with metal ions,some nucleotide and amino acid including molecular recognition,membrane transport,supramolecular catalysis and LB film self-assembly were studied. The calixarene and their derivatives have a bigger recognition abilities towards alkali metal than transitional metal. In contrary, the thiacalixarene and their derivatives exhibit good recognition abilities towards transitional metal.These studies propose potential applications of these derivatives in environment protection and medical treatment. The uridine-containing calixarene derivatives have a special recognition ability towards ATP. Studies show their interaction is based on the hydrogen bond between uridine and adenine. The calixarene derivative with the chiral group can chirally recognize threonine and has the potential to be used in separating enantiomers of amino acids. The introduction of calixarene into polymer break a new path to develop new functional materials containing calixarene.
