Ever since 21st century, human being have met with great challenges on shortage of energy, global warming and environmental pollution etc. Aiming at scientific frontiers and national strategies on solving of energy shortage, with light/electricity, electricity/light conversion as the core, with materials designation and fabrication as the basis, the key research project on “Light/electricity Conversion Materials for Energy” pays great attention on the leading role of surface engineering and theory and simulation of light/electricity conversion materials, hoping to solve the key scientific and technological problems in highly efficient solar cells and semiconducting light emitting materials and devices. Through this special project, we are going to disclose the mechanism of highly efficient light/electricity and electricity/light conversion. By breaking through the limit of current theories and techniques, it is greatly anticipated that new ideas and technical supports for development of new energy and highly efficient usage of the energy will be developed. We hope to make new achievements on the originality and creativity of theory and experiment on light/electricity conversion materials. By this way, we hope the national creating ability and international influence on the research of light/electricity materials and devices will be greatly enhanced. This program is applying for special funding on Expert Investigation and Organization of Scientific Symposium for the key project of “Light/electricity Conversion Materials for Energy”.
