中低纬度海洋的热强迫对“北极放大”的影响及其机制研究

Arctic amplification during global warming has exerted profound impacts on Arctic, and even global climate, yet the mechanisms maintaining Arctic amplification still remain an issue of debate. Recent studies highlight the role of oceanic forcing at mid- and low-latitudes, which can cause climate change remotely and influence Arctic amplification via atmospheric bridge. However, the relative impact of oceanic forcing sourced from different regions are not well constrained, not to mention the processes how these regions affect Arctic amplification. A comprehensive set of Green’s function experiments is designed by dividing the mid- and low-latitude ocean into many regions, thus to systematically and quantitively evaluate the climate response sensitivity in Arctic to the oceanic forcing from different regions at mid- and low-latitudes. Meanwhile, a novel attribution framework and a set of sensitivity experiments are used to interpret the rapid climate changes in Arctic. This project will help identify the most influential ocean that can lead to Arctic amplification, and provide more insight into understanding the formation mechanisms of Arctic amplification.

全球变暖过程中的“北极放大”效应对北极和全球的气候具有重大影响，然而对其形成机制目前还存在不同的认识。近年来的研究表明，中低纬度的海洋热强迫可以通过大气桥对北极的气候产生遥控作用，从而对“北极放大”产生显著的影响。然而，不同海域的热强迫在影响“北极放大”效应中的重要性尚未得到区分和定量评估，其影响机制也尚不清楚。因此，本课题拟利用格林函数实验法将中低纬度的海洋细分为百余个区域，利用海洋－大气－海冰耦合模式开展数值实验，系统且定量地评估北极的气候变化对中低纬度不同海域热强迫的敏感度，并结合新颖的温度归因法和严谨的敏感性实验来揭示不同海域热强迫引起北极气候快速变化的主要机制。相关工作的开展，可以筛选出对“北极放大”有重要影响的关键海域，并为探索“北极放大”的形成机制提供新的思路。

中低纬度的海洋热强迫能够通过海洋环流的调整输运和激发海气遥相关引起北极气候的变化，调控“北极放大效应”。本项目采用资料分析-模式研究-机制探讨相结合的技术路线，系统研究了海洋动力过程和海气遥相关过程对北极地区气候变化的重要贡献，所取得的创新性研究进展主要包括：.1）发展并改进了针对表面温度变化的中性模态理论；.2）北极地区气候变化受到中性模态的调制；.3）中纬度热强迫能够通过中性模态有效地影响北极气候；.4）北极地区表面温度的强非线性特征来源于海冰和季节演变；.5）南半球热强迫能够通过风生和热盐环流的调整影响低纬度甚至是北极的气候。.上述研究成果阐明了海洋通过环流调整和海气相互作用对北极地区的重要影响，有助于提升对大尺度海洋环流和海气相互作用在极地气候变化中作用的认识水平，加强我国在海洋和全球变化这一关键科学领域的话语权。
