To cultivate or improve individual creative abilities is greatly influenced by genetic and environment factors, therefore, investigating the mechanisms of these influences on creativity development and even brain maturation in adolescents is helpful to the better improvement of their creative abilities. Based on these backgrounds, this project will go and continue the construction of a multimode neuroimaging database concerning creativity of about 1,200 adolescents, extending from brain and behavior data to gen data. Based on the database, this project plan to conduct the following researches: (1) to reveal the genetic bases of creativity, utilizing genome-wide association study (GWAS), polygenic analysis and candidate gene research in exploring the mechanism of genetic influences on creativity development, and on critical brain structure and function. (2) To systematically explore the influences of internal and external environment factors (such as family and school context, personality and working memory ability, etc.) on creativity development and brain maturation. (3) To reveal the interactive mechanism of genetic and environmental influences on creativity development and brain maturation by longitudinal investigation on the developmental database concerning creativity and fMRI neuroimaging changes. (4) To show effective ways of improving adolescent’s creative abilities and related brain plasticity by using trans-cranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) method. By revealing the genetic and environmental bases of creativity development and critical brain structure and function changes in adolescents, this project would further establish helpful creativity evaluation measures based on gen, brain and behavior researches, which can provide scientific guidance for cultivating innovational individuals.
