The aim of the project is to document rock assemblage, tectonics and early geological evolution of the North China cratonic basement. Combined with the compiled of geological map of the carton, several key metamorphic terrains, such as Hengshan, Wutai, Taihang, Lvliang etc., are investigated in detail for their structural deformation, metamorphism, geochemistry and isotopic geochronology research. The international collaborative efforts with USA, Germany and Australia are conducted for the project in the last four years. A suture zone from West Liaoning to East Hebei up to 600km long is identified for the first time, with the oldest ophiolite (2.50Ga) of the world well preserved. The podiform chromite discovered is suggested to be an important mark for the early ophiolite, providing crucial evidence for operation of Plate tectonics in the Archean.. Based upon metamorphic history of High-pressure granulite, the component for lower continental crust of North China and its uplifting process are reconstructed. It shows that Wutai-Hengshan are actually the coupled crustal level with comparable tectono-thermal history. The north China craton are mainly generated in the Neoarchean through TTG accretion and collision, followed by reworking in the Proterozoic. According to the structural analysis, tectonothermal constraint is suggested for the division on the limit between Archean and Proterozoic. The tectonic correlation between NCC and other cratonic blocks are also suggested. Finially, Neoarchean black smoker chimney and evaporite are discovered by the project, providing clues to the evolution of early Precambrian environment..
