It has been reported that endogenous opioid peptides are involved in the regulations of the sexual functions. Long term massive use of opioid drugs has been shown to severely depress sexual functions in opiate addicts. A recovery of sexual functions would help the patients to go through the late phase of abstinence smoothly, to resume normal social life and to decrease the rate of relapse. Our previous studies have shown that 2/100Hz transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation (TENS) could not only suppress withdrawal syndrome in heroin addicts, but also accelerate the recovery of the level of sex hormones and sexual functions. But the mechanisms by which electroacupuncture (EA) normalize the level of sex hormones and sexual functions is not well understood. The present studies were designed to investigate whether repeated EA administration can increase serum luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone (T) levels in morphine-dependent rats, and then try to study its underlying mechanisms. The main results are as follows: (1) Acute and chronic administration of morphine significantly inhibited the sexual behaviors in rats and decreased their serum testosterone level. (2) The serum testosterone level of morphine dependent rats recovered to normal level within 24 hours after the last morphine injection. The serum concentration was further increased to reach a higher-than-normal level if EA was given for one week, and maintained at that level for at least two weeks if the EA was administered once daily. (3) Markedly facilitated sexual behaviors were observed in morphine withdrawal LEW rats on the 7th day after the last morphine injection, which could be reversed by EA. In contrast, the sexual behaviors of morphine dependent SD rats were depressed at that time period, and EA tended to facilitate those behaviors. The above results indicate that chronic morphine administration suppresses the sexual function of male rats, and that 2/100Hz EA can help facilitating the recovery from sexual dysfunction. It was also found that 2Hz EA was effective for accelerating the recovery of immune function after drug abstinence. These findings are important for the understanding of the mechanisms of EA treatment for heroin addicts.
临床研究发现电针能抑制海洛因戒断症状,并使患者血清黄体生成素(LH)水平升高,促进性功能障碍恢复,但缺乏理论依据。本研究对大鼠吗啡依赖模型用电针治疗,观察长时间电针能否增加吗啡戒断大鼠血清LH分泌,探索八肽胆囊收缩素或多巴胺在该过程中的作用机制。从八肽胆囊收缩素或多巴胺的释放量、受体机制及基因表达等三方面进行研究。
