The beam instabilities may be as the limitation of the beam performance in a storage ring. The bunch lengthening and microwave instability is one of the important collective phenomena in electron storage ring. It is an important factor to limit the luminosity in Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), and it is related to the coupling impedance, and is an interesting subject in accelerator physics studies. The contents to research this subject include the experiment observation in BEPC, the exact bunch lengthening scaling law of BEPC, the simulation studies to compare with the observation results, to develop the mode for future understanding the physics mechanism of the instability; the contents also include to study the electron cloud effects using the electron detectors which are installed on the beam tube individually in BEPC.
本课题将研究并发展微波不稳定性理论,建立数值计算程序和多粒子跟踪程序;在北京正负电子对撞机上对束团长度作精确测量,并通过其它束流测量手段,建立其真空盒阻抗模型,研究束团拉伸效应;利用实验结果,完善理论分析,对计算程序进行校验,使之成为研究微波不稳定性的可靠工具;同时对负动量压缩因子时的微波不稳定性作进一步深入的研究。.
