This project is carried out to arouse the youngsters’ love for nature and their pursuit for the scientific knowledge of biological invasion, and to provide a reference for the photography enthusiasts of insect photography. The book focuses on the process of invasion of the alien species, Solenopsis invicta, as well as its impacts on society, ecology and human health. Different from other highly scientific articles, this book, or to be more specific, this ecological atlas (including 3D) of ants, is written in easy Chinese with vivid illustration. We demonstrate to the readers all the stages of the invasion process of the red imported fire ant, and describe the damage, as well as the general characteristics such as ants foraging, nesting, fighting and nuptial flight. Besides, the lifestyle, unique cast differentiation, forms of social organization and division of labor are specifically introduced, to attract the readers’ eyes. All pictures in the book are obtained by the project members through field trips and photography. Hopefully this book will attract the attention of readers towards biological invasion, and enhance their awareness of biodiversity protection.
本项目的目的在于唤起青少年对大自然的热爱和对生物入侵科学知识的追求,并为摄影爱好者的昆虫摄影提供参考。图书以红火蚁为对象介绍外来生物入侵的过程以及对社会、生态和人体健康的影响。和一般高深莫测的科学文章不同的是,本书以蚂蚁生态图册(含3D)的形式出版,语言通俗易懂,图文并茂,向读者生动地展示了包括红火蚁入侵过程中的各个阶段特征及其带来的为害,以及红火蚁所具有蚂蚁的一般特征如觅食、迁巢、格斗和婚飞等过程,并对蚂蚁的生活方式、独特的品级分化、社会组织形式和分工等进行详细介绍,具有浓厚的趣味性,让读者能在轻松愉快的阅读中对这种小蚂蚁有所认识。本书中的所有蚂蚁图片,都是由项目参与者通过实地考察、拍摄,最后汇总编辑而来的,意在以此引起每一个读者对生物入侵的关注,提升生物多样性的保护意识。
本项目按照预定计划,完成了图片拍摄和文字撰写工作并由航空工业出版社出版科普图书一册。本书是国内首部原创以生物入侵为主题的3D科普图书,图书介绍红火蚁基本的生物学特征、入侵的过程、对社会、生态和人体健康的影响以及防治方法等内容。
