To contribute to the digitalization of Chinese coalmine industry, this project applies VR to traditional coalmine industry. It is the first project on research and development work of Coalmine Virtual Environment System(MVES) having Chinese intellectual asset in the form of copyright and patent. The system design for MVES is realized and theoretic breakthroughs and technical innovations are achieved in this project. The theory of Gray Geographical Information System(GGIS), and integrated data model and data structures of 2D-GGIS and Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN), which is based on stratified geologic bodies, has been proposed in this project. The three-dimensional data model and data structures based on TIN and Analogical Right Triangular Prism(ARTP), which is specially designed for coalmine application, is proposed in this project. This project also studies key VR techniques, such as geometric modolling, collision detection, three-dimensional interaction, stereo viewing, acceleration of graphic display, color and material. The corresponding arithemetic is also presented in this project. This project has realized the arithemetic of constructing geometric models of geologic bodies in any complexity. This project proposed new interpolation algorithm, which is based on surface spline function and is specially applicable to stratified deposit. A prototype system, named VRMine, is developed in this project,which lays a foundation to change the disadvantageous position of our country in developing coalmine software and is very important to information safety, country safety and improve science and technology level of Chinese coalmine industry.
