e-Commerce ecosystems are wildly considered as the typical complex adaptive systems. Act as the two important Agents, platform providers and e-retailers should make interactive development due to their complementary resources and capabilities in E-Commerce ecosystems. However, not all interactive activities between these two players can lead to evolution for edge of Chaos in e-Commerce ecosystems. Effective interactive activities mean that both of players should create dynamic adaption for gaining evolution of ecosystems. Recently, it is less obvious that how to specify organizational effects and management mechanisms that platform providers and e-retailers must develop and exercise with the aid of e-business to address mutual adaption in e-Commerce ecosystems..As the world's largest e-tail market, China presents us a unique research opportunity to examine the dynamism between platform providers and e-retailers. Adopting the recently developed complex adaptive systems perspective, we will be able to (1) explore the interactive development of an e-Commerce ecosystem from the viewpoints of the platform, the traditional companies that participate in the platform, and explain three mechanisms of dynamic adaption between these two major players of the ecosystern through effective interactive activities; (2) and do empirical research about attractive mechanism from platform providers, response mechanism from e-retailers, and coevolution mechanism using multiple source data set. Theoretically, this project intend to build China specific e-commerce ecosystems management theory. This project will provide great insights on the evolution of the e-Commerce ecosysterns, the various business models that a platform can adopt to cultivate a healthy trading environment, and the business strategies for traditional retailers to be successful in this new digital environment.
电商平台生态系统是一个典型的复杂适应系统。作为关键的参与主体,平台和入驻企业的资源和能力互补决定了双方相互依赖的互动关系。然而并非所有的互动都能促进生态系统演进,取决于能否产生推动生态系统向混沌边缘演进的动态适应关系。然而,学术界对电商平台生态系统中动态适应的表现形式以及作用机制的研究还不清楚。本研究基于中国电商生态系统实践发展了复杂适应系统观点,(1)通过解构电商平台与入驻企业间的互动活动,描述了吸引子和动态适应关系,并探索了双方互动产生动态适应关系的三种关键作用机制;(2)通过整合定量和定性转化的多源数据构成的数据集合,采用实证研究方法序贯检验了“电商平台吸引”、“入驻企业响应”以及“双方演化发展”三种关键作用机制。本研究力图推进有中国特色的电子商务管理理论,为揭示平台和入驻企的动态适应形成提供了新的理论解释,对于完善电子商务平台治理、推进电子商务市场的健康发展具有重要的科学意义。
电商平台生态系统是一个典型的复杂适应系统。作为关键的参与主体,平台和入驻企业的资源和能力互补决定了双方相互依赖的互动关系。学术界对电商平台生态系统中动态适应的表现形式以及作用机制的研究还不清楚。本研究基于中国电商生态系统实践发展了复杂适应系统观点,依据复杂适应理论的三种动态适应效应,分析电商平台与入驻企业间的吸引、响应和演化发展三种作用机制,进而解释电商平台与入驻企业间动态适应过程中的平台质量治理效应、创业感知与组织转型、产品创新与平台治理之间的复杂作用关系。主要完成了三项成果:(1)以电商平台作为分析对象,分析平台集中式治理产生的质量信号对在线销售的刺激作用,描述平台生态吸引力;(2)以入驻企业为分析对象,描述了线下企业入驻平台涌现现象的规律,包括创业机遇识别和流程优化的适应性调整过程;(3)以平台与入驻企业交互的视角,研究产品创新和生态治理相互耦合的态势,勾勒了创新驱动的平台与入驻企业间的演化机制。本研究揭示平台和入驻企的动态适应形成提供了新的理论解释,对于完善电子商务平台治理、推进电子商务市场的健康发展具有重要的科学意义。
