This team proposed a new concept for the controllable molecular assemby: catassembly, with its definition as: a catassembler is a substance (or a group of substances working synergistically) that increases the rate of an assembly process without modifying the overall standard Gibbs energy change; the process is called catassembly. This project uses a “backflush” manner to top-level design and organizes the team into three divisions: the small molecular catassembly, the macromolecular catassembly, and the simulation, theory and characterization of catassembly systems. We intend to develop various experimental systems to demonstrate the concept, disclose the laws and extend the meaning, and to investigate the thermodynamics and kinetics of the corresponding catassembly processes, in order to promote the characterization and theory study of molecular assembly. Our ultimate goal is to develop catassembly into a leading direction internationally.
